UNIT 5: CAN YOU SWIM?
Lesson 3 (1, 2, 3)
I. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Ask and answer question about whether someone can do something.
- Pronounce the letter s in sing, and the letter cluster sw in swim.
- Listen and number the sentences. Then say them aloud.
- Say the chant Can you sing?
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
2. Skills:
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality: To help Ss loving English.
4. Forming competence:
- Be proactive when performing tasks
- Have communication skills and active participate in teamwork
II. Methods:
- Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching
methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising,
discussion group, technical present....
III. Preparation.
1.Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book.
2.Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.

- Ask Ss to sing “Can you swim” song
- Lead to new lesson
Task 1. Listen and repeat
-Tell pupils that they are going to
practice saying the sounds of the letters
s and sw in the words sing and swim
respectively.
- Play the recording and ask pupils to
repeat a few times.
- Put the letters s and sw, the words sing
and swim and the sentences I can sing
and I can’t swim on the board.
- Play the recording a few more times
and let pupils say the sentences, paying
attention to the target sounds.
Task 2. Listen and number. Then say
aloud
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen
- Sing Can you swim?
- Listen. Then listen and
repeat
- Look at the board and
catch
- Listen and repeat
